A Review: EVOLUTION #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of EVOLUTION #1 from Image Comics. James Asmus, Joe Keatinge, Christopher Sebela and Joshua Williamson write, Joe Infurnari draws, Jordan Boyd colors, and Pat Brosseau letters.

The doctor in Philadelphia has done some things in the past that he’d rather not come out. Now he’s come across a child with some very interesting symptoms. The nun in Rome meets a man with apparently some form of illness or defect. Claire in LA does a good deed and gets more than she bargained for.

Something very strange is happening in all of these places. Are they connected? Are there more? And the obvious, what the heck is it? This book has an accomplished team of writers working on it, and the art has a dark realism with hints of the impossible dashed in along the way. It’s a wild start to what feels like a slow burn of a story (as contradictory as that sounds).

This first issue gives us the beginning of a diverse ensemble cast, and it’s enough of a taste that I’m excited to see and learn more. I think this is going to be an important series.

EVOLUTION #1 is available now from your local comic shop, or online at imagecomics.com.
