A Review: NINJAK #18

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of NINJAK #18 from Valiant Entertainment. The stories are by Matt Kindt, with art by Khari Evans and Andres Guinaldo, colors by Ulises Arreola and Chris Sotomayor, and letters by Dave Sharpe.

Some years into the future, Gilad (the Eternal Warrior) sought out Colin’s help to track down Fakir who has escaped the custody of MI-6. He agrees, only on the condition that they do it his way. Information leads them to a location in the Himalayas that only a few know where it is. But what is Fakir up to and can our valiant duo stop him in time?

In the backup story, Colin is dealing with the aftermath of his world literally and figuratively being torn down. Neville visits to inform him that the MI-6 agents Colin saved from the Deadside are slowly and painfully dying from some disease. And that there’s a good chance he is infected too.

I really like the relationship between Colin and Gilad. There’s a mutual respect there and it would be awesome to see these two team up more (granted, they are fated too according to the BOOK OF DEATH). Matt Kindt has been knocking it out of the park, this time aided with strong work from artists Khari Evans and Andres Guinaldo, colorists Ulises Arreola and Chris Sotomayor. It’s worth checking out if you’ve been on the fence!
