A Review: UNITY #19

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of UNITY #19 from Valiant Entertainment. The story is by Matt Kindt, with art by Jose Luis, Sandro Ribeiro, Alisson Rodrigues, and Jefte Palo. The colors are by Andrew Dalhouse and lettering by Dave Sharpe.

Meet War-Monger - a lady in physical appearance only, an attitude from hell and a mouth to match. She’s been around since 1900 B.C.E. (Before Common Era, so apparently an immortal), knows how to kill and can do it VERY well. She’s in town to take down the Unity team, starting with Ninjak. Why you may ask? She’s battled a UNITY team LONG ago, and she doesn’t really like them. So she wants to take out the latest version before they become a pain in the ….

OK, I like this new character War-Monger (maybe not so much the potty mouth). She is a badass with an attitude to match. Kindt continues to expand on the idea the UNITY team has been around in one form or another for a long time. I like that. It gives a legacy vibe for a universe that hasn’t been around long (at least this version). This book has been top notch from the get-go; it’s a non-traditional super-team book filled with non-traditional heroes. Highly recommended and now is a good time to get on board!
