A Review: UNITY #0

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of UNITY #0 from Valiant Comics. The story is written by Matt Kindt, illustrated by Cary Nord, with colors by Jose Villarrubia, and letters by Dave Sharpe.

Gilad the Eternal Warrior has experienced a lot in his long life on Earth, including leading a team of heroes known as Unit Y. This four member team accomplished impossible missions during World War I trying to stop the Germans. The team is asked to complete one final mission before being disbanded due to political pressure from other countries. But is this Unit Y’s final mission in more ways than one?

It’s great to see Gilad front and center again (I miss his series), even if it’s only one issue. I really like the vibe of this issue; it’s an awesome war black ops story. The team itself is interesting with my favorite (other than Gilad) possibly being Alpha – the tall, muscled pacifist who invents incredible machines. Matt Kindt and Cary Nord have created a really cool team that I’d like to see more. I definitely think that is possible, so please do it guys!

UNITY #0 is in stores now, or available for ordering at www.valiantentertainment.com.
