A Review: JUDGE DREDD: ANDERSON, PSI DIVISION #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of JUDGE DREDD: ANDERSON, PSI DIVISION #1 from IDW Publishing. Matt Smith writes, and Carl Critchlow draws and colors.

Anderson is the rising star of the Psi Division. One day a psi-flash wakes her up and sends her to a museum, which is then attacked and robbed. The creeps got away with an old map, and Anderson gets a flash of the Alabama Morass, a huge swamp on the southern coast. So she gets to take a road trip.

If you’re familiar with the Dredd universe (and even if you aren’t), the Psi Division is a fun twist on the original. It’s a cool new way to explore the darkness, and Anderson is especially good at it despite her youth. She’s an interesting character to be sure. And it’s fun to get outside of the city for a change, and the art switches seamlessly (maintaining the darkness, of course).

There’s a whole lot of great story potential around Psi Division, and this is a really nice start to a story firmly centered on it. I can’t wait to see more of this and other stories like it.

JUDGE DREDD: ANDERSON, PSI DIVISION #1 is available now at your FLCS or at idwpublishing.com.
