A Review: THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH from Dynamite Entertainment. Ron Marz writes, Ivan Rodriguez draws and Inlight Studios colors.

Lamont and Margo have been accidentally diverted to Innsmouth by weather, and Margo has had a strange encounter on the street. She’s seen something weird, but had a blow to the head and isn’t sure. One of the locals tells a tale of occult happenings in the town’s history, and it’s all enough to get the Shadow curious. What could he possibly find in one of Lovecraft’s old haunts?

Sometimes things are just not as complicated as they seem (and I’m not going to spoil it). This one-shot is a nice little crossover between the noir-ish Shadow and one of the modern masters of horror. Since it’s hard to do both in this short a format, one takes precedence, but still manages to tell a complete story. And the creepy background art is simply amazing.

I’m going to forgo the obvious bad jokes here and just say go buy this book. It manages to have fun with both the Shadow and Lovecraft, so how can you go wrong?

THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH is available now at your FLCS or at dynamite.com.
