A Review: CHASTITY #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of CHASTITY #1 from Dynamite Entertainment (courtesy of Chaos!). Marc Andreyko writes, Dave Acosta draws and Thiago Ribeiro colors.

Chastity Marks is the narrator in her life story. She tells us about her childhood – about her overbearing mother, about her Olympic dreams, about the injury that shattered them. She also tells us about how she was first introduced to the monsters in her life, and all of the things that came from that. And then there’s the cliffhanger.

That may seem like an overly simple description, but I do it that way for two reasons. One, spoilers. Two, Chastity comes across as a relatively normal person. She had a fairly normal childhood. But the story is told in a way that really sets up the idea that something big has changed in her life, and it’s done very well. The snippets we’re shown really give us a good summary of her and what she should be. Next month I suspect we’ll get to see who (or what) she really is.

This is a really nicely told backstory introducing us to a normal young woman in an extraordinary setting. I’m really looking forward to seeing how she has turned out.

CHASTITY #1 is available now at your FLCS or at dynamite.com.
