A Review: NAILBITER #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of NAILBITER #1 from Image Comics. The story is by Joshua Williamson, with art by Mike Henderson.

Nicholas Finch is a disgraced police officer at the end of his rope. That’s when friend and fellow officer Eliot Carroll calls and asks him to come to Buckaroo, Oregon; the birth place of sixteen serial killers. Carroll believes he’s figured out why so many have come from such a small town, but needs Finch’s help. Finch arrives only to find that his buddy is missing. The first place he and Sheriff Crane start the investigation at the home of the latest (and recently freed) killer Edward Warren, AKA Nailbiter.

Ok, this is a really creepy story, and I’m totally engaged. In addition to the obvious mystery of what happened to Officer Carroll (or do we already know), but I want to find out more about Finch troubled past. Did Carroll truly figure out why this town can be such a breeding ground for serial killers? Mike Henderson’s art sets the perfect mood for this story, and the colors really set a nice balance between the darknes of the town and the brightness of the blood. This is totally worth checking out.
