A Review: SIR ROLAND #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of SIR ROLAND #1 from comiXology Submit. Peter Timony writes and draws, with an assist from Bobby Timony.

A group of ogres attacks a town, and the town wizard enchants a suit of armor to defend the town. Thus Sir Roland is born! A conversation with the Smart Ogre (and several helmets) later, the ogres are defeated and Roland’s nemesis Sir Reginald is pounded into the ground as well.

It’s an origin story! In these pages we see how many of the characters of the Sir Roland books get their start. I’m always happy to see a good comedic fantasy story appear, and there is plenty of comedy to go around in this one. The ogres practically steal the show, really; Sir Roland’s conversation/battle with them is really well done. Funny, funny stuff.

The beginning of an era! The start of a legend! Where good guys and bad guys come from! This book is a riot from start to finish. Pick it up and enjoy the madness!

SIR ROLAND #1 is available now online at comixology.com.
