A Review: BEN 10 #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of BEN 10 #1 from IDW Publishing. The story is by Jason Henderson, pencils by Gordon Purcell, inks by Scott Macrae, colors by Jason Lewis, and letters by Neil Uyetake.

Ben and The Plumbers are taking a much needed vacation; an exciting cruise. Ben is attacked, but conflict is resolved quickly. On the cruise, Ben meets a mysterious girl named Lorelai who is offended by an ice sculpture. The girls coax Ben into getting rid of the sculpture. Before the repercussions are felt the ship is attacked by an alien vessel and The Plumbers do their best to protect the boat. Was the cruise ship the target, if not who or what? And what is Lorelai hiding?

BEN 10 is the latest addition of the Cartoon Network line of comics. While I am aware of the cartoon, I have no real knowledge of the show or characters. Unfortunately, there isn’t any kind of information listed to get newcomers up to speed. Otherwise, the story was a fun, action-packed adventure with a great cliffhanger.

BEN 10 #1 is in stores now, or available to order at www.IDWPublishing.com.
