A Review: ZOMBIE TRAMP #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of ZOMBIE TRAMP #1 from Action Lab Comics. Dan Mendoza writes and draws.

A group of intruders searching through her brothel is enough to wake Janey Belle from her rest, and it doesn’t end well for them. But also present in the brothel is a small girl who calls herself Morning, and she has a plan particularly suited to Janey’s skill set (not that skill set – the zombie skill set). So they strike a deal and embark on a journey across the country to find a long lost friend.

Combining horror and comedy often results in really perverse comedy that doesn’t appeal to a lot of people. Fortunately this is not the case here; Janey Belle is a zombie with a sense of humor, but not a particularly terrible sense of humor. She may be shallow, impatient, vain and dead, but she’s still a good character. And it’s possible that Morning might just be the perverse one here; we’ll have to wait and see.

Mendoza’s story is solid so far, and his art works really well – just unreal enough to play up the humor. I really think this is going to be a good one, so check it out.

ZOMBIE TRAMP #1 is available now at your LCS or online at actionlabcomics.com.
