A Review: LADY RAWHIDE #1

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of LADY RAWHIDE #1 from Dynamite Entertainment. The story is by Eric Trautmann, art by Milton Estevam, colors by Dinei Ribeiro and lettering by Marshall Dillon.

A group of raiders attack “El Gorrion” (The Sparrow), a near impenetrable train carrying soldiers and weapons. They are successful grabbing what they need and destroying the train, but not without cost.

Meanwhile, Lady Rawhide is in Cuyutlan, grabbing medicine, food, and gold to give to the poor. The soldiers try to stop her, but fail miserably. She escapes and makes way to a refugee camp outside San Isidore. They are grateful, but wish her to leave for fear of repercussions for harboring a fugitive. She leaves and soon encounters one of the wounded raiders. Then the soldiers arrive…

For those who are not familiar with the character, her origin is retold here…including her connection to the legendary hero Zorro. This is an action-packed issue with some very nice art included. The twist with the raiders is a nice touch too. It will be interesting to see where the story goes.
