A Review: FICTIONAUTS

The Fellowship was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of FICTIONAUTS from Studio 407. The story is by Mauri Mantella with art by Leandro Rizzo, and colors by Marcelo Blanco. The book was edited and adapted by Chad Jones.

The Fictionauts is a team of adventurers who take care of anomalies that develop in various pieces of fiction. They discover them through the Omnibook, which was given to the team by Lady Conceptia of Ideopolis. But for some strange reason, the anomalies are coming at a quicker pace, which is causing the universe to tear apart. While our heroes are putting out the fires, a stranger calling himself Agent X has appears at arc nemesis Professor Poisson’s lair with a plan that will destroy the walls that separate reality from fiction.

This reminds me of Challengers of the Unknown in that it’s a group of adventurers that are on crazy missions to save the world (or in this case, worlds). This is an interesting concept that is something fresh, yet familiar. In addition, there are a couple of inside jokes and easter eggs are waiting for you. Leandro Rizzo’s art is incredible! It reminds me of the work of the late Moebius. I could not stop admiring the beauty of it. It would be interesting to see where this goes from here.

FICTIONAUTS is in stores now and available at studio-407.com.
